Are you a hands-on Engineering Technician with a keen eye for detail and a passion for testing and product development? We’re recruiting for an Engineering Technician to join a growing engineering team, supporting the development and reliability testing of innovative electronic products.
Reporting to the Product Engineering Manager, you’ll play a key role in preparing, testing, and analysing new and existing products to ensure they meet the highest quality and reliability standards. Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily equipment checks and basic maintenance to ensure reliable test operation.
- Prepare product samples for testing, including marking, board mounting, and preconditioning.
- Perform electrical, thermal, and mechanical reliability testing on products within specified timeframes.
- Conduct detailed visual inspections using microscopes to identify defects and product issues.
- Design, build, and maintain test boards and fixtures used for product testing.
- Edit and maintain test programmes for automated test equipment.
- Record, analyse, and maintain test results using Microsoft Excel and engineering documentation systems.
- Manage wafer sample storage, ensuring accurate logging and traceability of materials.
- Support product development activities by providing accurate test data and technical feedback.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, quality, and health & safety within the laboratory and testing areas.
- Work closely with engineering teams to support ongoing product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience
- GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths, English, and a Science subject, are preferred.
- Previous experience in an engineering, electronics, manufacturing, or cleanroom environment is desirable.
- Experience preparing test samples or carrying out product testing would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with soldering techniques and building test fixtures.
- Good understanding of health & safety procedures and the importance of PPE compliance.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Positive, proactive attitude with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Flexible approach to supporting testing activities when required.
