Production Operator
Location: Bedford
Contract: 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract with Permanent Opportunities
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday on a rotating shift pattern of 6:00am – 2:00pm and 2:00pm – 10:00pm. Candidates must also be willing to work night shifts (10:00pm – 6:00am) on a set-duration basis when required. A night shift premium of one-third is paid for applicable hours worked.
We are seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join the team as a Production Operator.
As a Production Operator, you will play a key role in the manufacturing process, ensuring products are produced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in their performance, and works well as part of a team. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to develop their skills and build a long-term career within manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate production equipment, including ovens and gantry cranes
- Weigh and measure raw materials accurately
- Prepare moulds and carry out moulding and demoulding processes
- Record production data and product measurements accurately
- Trim and finish products ready for the next stage of production
- Inspect finished products and report faults or quality concerns to the Shift Leader or Team Manager
- Follow all health and safety procedures when operating machinery and handling materials
- Use PPE correctly and work in accordance with COSHH and Safe Systems of Work
- Maintain clean, organised, and hazard-free work areas
- Move raw materials and finished products using a forklift truck or pallet truck where authorised
- Support production requirements and work additional hours when required
Qualifications / Skills:
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment is desirable
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Reliable, honest, and professional approach to work
- Willingness to learn new skills and follow procedures
- Ability to undertake physical and manual handling tasks
- Forklift truck or pallet truck licence is advantageous but not essential
- Flexible approach to shifts and overtime requirements
